AgendaCascais2016_header

Cascais is one of those places where you don’t need much to enjoy your time with different leisure programs. Its beaches, parks, museums and markets are appealing, inviting and lively places where you could easily keep yourself busy 365 days a year. However, Cascais goes even further, with innovation and ever eager to surprise.

If you are thinking about visiting us in 2016, take a look at all we have to offer you

With perfect conditions for practicing sports such as surf, windsurf, kite surf, paddle, canoeing, sailing, football or beach volley, Cascais’ beaches are among this country’s most streamlined beaches. This is also one of the reasons that attract several national and international trials and championships to these sites. A great example of it is the “Mundialito” beach soccer championship that will be held at the end of July on the long beach of Carcavelos. At this seasoned environment, sprinkled by sun and salty water you can also attend the “Cascais Triathlon 2016” which will be held at Guincho beach, to any of the many surf events, such as the “World Championship of Surf Women” or event to one of the sailing competitions, such as the World Championships of SB20 29, RC 44 20-25 and TP 52 10, which take place between August and October along the coast of Cascais.

If you are already a fan of horse riding you won’t want to miss the “CSI – Longine Global Champions Cascais”, between 8 and 9 of July at Manuel Possolo Municipal Hippodrome – the most distinct competition in its genre, at one of the most beautiful hippodromes of its circuit – and also the International Lusitano Horse Festival, taking place at the town’s downtown district.

Two other competitions you shouldn’t miss are “Millenium Estoril Open”, taking place between the 23rd of April and the 1st of May, which brings some of the most famous names of tennis worldwide to the Estoril Tennis Club, or maybe even the “World Corporate Golf Challenge”, taking place at the magnificent course “Oitavos Dunes Golf” between 21st and 26th of June.

And what about music festivals, are you looking for something special? If so, you shouldn’t miss this year’s great novelty, a festival dedicated to Groove style. If you are a Groove lover, than you should come to Fernando Lopes-Graça Auditorium between the 25th and 26th of July. If you are planning your trip to Cascais in September, make sure you stay for the creative and astonishing “Lumina”, Light Festival, the event bringing the biggest number of visitors to Cascais’ streets and lighting them with a thousand light and colour effects, for three whole days.

Besides all of this, and with even more than our cultural and sports agenda has to offer, the Town Market offers a diverse set of theme fairs, from which we highlight the Chocolate Market (February), the Wine Market (April), the Fish&Seafood Market (June and July) and the Sardine Market (end of July).

Finally, the latest news Cascais has to offer you comes at the end of the year. Between 26 of November and 6 of January the Christmas Town will be born in the beautiful romantic Marechal Carmona Park. An unmissable event, especially for those with kids or looking to awake their inner child.

As you can see, besides Cascais’ natural beauty and charm, it still has a lot more to offer, a handful of excellent reasons to visit and meet Cascais. 2016 has just started and we are already waiting for you. Entertainment is something you won’t miss!
