Dream Houses :: The best views of Cascais
Between the Ocean and the Mountains…
You arrive at this villa through an unlikely route, following calm streets, seasoned with a certain dose of rural environment. This is Charneca, a small village between the town of Cascais and Malveira da Serra, right in the heart of the Nature Park of Sintra-Cascais.
The current owners of the property open the door and welcome us on the inviting terrace. The first thing that catches our eye is the pool, embraced by a wooden deck that gives us the impression of laying itself down against the contrasting green valley, as though pondering in contemplation. In the background, another shade of blue. The Atlantic Ocean parted by the horizon dividing it from the blue skies. This is when you take your very first deep breath. While breathing in the fresh air you start smelling the freshness of the pinewoods, which dominate the surrounding landscape. For a moment everything is quiet, allowing the space to enjoy this magnificent scenery. Only the numerous birds, some in flight, some in the trees, interrupt this calm with their song.
The first question that crossed my mind is, why would anyone want to move out of a house like this? The answer comes naturally. The current owner, who lives here, is an architect and was associated with the building project of this set of villas. It has been over ten years, and for him, it is now time to conceive a new project for him and his family. Meanwhile, the couple share the numerous advantages that living there have given them: The magnificent outdoor lunches, in family or with friends, that can be held even during the mild Autumn and Winter, the unique sunset over the horizon, the proximity to the beach, to which it is possible to access in less than a 20-minute walk through the mountain and the possibility of living, literally, between the countryside and the sea.
By being built within the borderline of the Nature Park of Sintra-Cascais, this house has the status of being located in protected land, which assures than nothing more can be built around it. Moreover, this condition guarantees an eternally healthy environment and the opportunity to enjoy the most of an untouchable landscape. This is why a house in this location is so much sought after, and not only by the Portuguese, also foreigners. In fact, from the set of the five villas, this is the only one inhabited by a Portuguese family.
To the question “what is the main attribute of this house” the answer is automatic and urges in unison “Tranquillity!”. Besides this, the owner adds, “it’s the location”. True thing. We are far from everything yet only two minutes away from the highway that takes you to Cascais and to Lisbon, in less than twenty-five minutes. With attributes like these, what else would you need to know to acquire this house? it is a just like stamping your passport for life quality, for ever.
